I teach a wide variety of students in-person and online. My students come from El Dorado Hills, Folsom, Sacramento, Carmichael, Elk Grove, Rocklin and so on. Since I began to teach piano, it's been over 30 years therefore I have lots of experience. I try to give clear instructions and motivations to practice to be a better pianist. According to my students and their parents,  my lessons are fun, educated and productive! If I just ask a student to practice a piano daily, most of students do not want to do. But if students know how to practice in a fun way, they will do more. I noticed that majority of students do not know correct way to press the keys or use of pedals. I also will use homemade materials to explain how to press the keys. Playing the piano is the reflection of the sensation of fingers so once students master it, they can create really beautiful tones.

 

To read the music, if students understand the history of the music and structure of the instrument, they can thoroughly comprehend the music. The Baroque music has a narrow range of keys compared with the Romantic era for instance. 

My studio  also always have a project in each recital such as " Jazz" , "Bird" and so on. the purpose of this is that I would like my students to  pull out their imaginations and creativity.

Most importantly, I would love to see my student's smile during and after taking my lessons to satisfy.

I will teach piano mostly weekly for students, but also I can give once or twice a month to adults students. So feel free to contact me.

I will start to teach using "piano Adventures" or "Bastien Piano Basics" series which includes lesson book,  performance book, technique book and theory book for beginners to early intermediate students.

​

Then students reached late intermediate, I introduce "Kieth Snell "series. However, I adjust the repertoire or technique by the student's age, interest, level, and the speed of their progress so I suggest not only those series.

​

There are so many repertoire choices and it is really fun to assign a new piece for my students. I love to see the sparkling on their eyes when they get a new repertoire which they can excite to learn!

Improving the technique is also enhance the musicality. Therefore, I suggest my students to practice, Hanon, Czerny, Fingerpower, and scale skills. 

 

For the performance opportunity, my studio has 4 times of studio recitals with studio projects in a year. I also encourage my students to attend the Certificate of Merit (MTAC) and other competitions.

 

I am a good listener and communicator. When students struggle, I try to find the solution right away. My goal is that my students can feel their progress and enjoy playing the piano all the time. I would like to celebrate their accomplishments together.

 

I teach both in person and online. Students can choose either in person and online or hybrid lessons. In any platform!
